Drenched In Appreciation
There is no limit to the number of things you can be grateful for in business and life, once you get started thinking that way. Why? Because the more grateful you are, the more here in the moment you become. You then start to see things as they are and realize what a gift your life truly is.
Lucky 13
Recall there are 13 recurring domains of human concern, including education, work, career, sociability, aesthetics, body, family, money, world, dignity, situation, spirituality, and membership. When you appreciate them, they rise, just like real estate and stock prices appreciate. So, here are 13 I appreciate from this year:
Agile Rainmakers continues to bring dignity to all aspects of business.
My wife Mary was always supportive at every turn once again, just as she has been for 22 years.
Hector Betanzos created Intern vs. Manager on Instagram and brought in over 60k followers, leading to much success for How To Intern Successfully and Intern Management.
Arden Berlinger masterfully balanced her PhD work, rowing, supporting me, and everything else in her life.
Fuqua MBA Classmate and 25+ year friend Steve Colten chose to partner with me in the true Team Fuqua sense.
My clients, including SpaceWalker, Peak Degrees, Tokemak, Threefold Strategies, among others inspired me with their hunger, drive for success, ethical values, and generous listening. Thank you!
Learning Resources, Brock University, and Sycamore High School each supported our commitment to bring dignity to the internship discourse.
Friends, new, like Josh Greenberg and Steve Baldacci, and old, like Dani Houchin, David Sternberg, Christine Campisi, Pierre Dunagan, Linda Nitzsche, John Lothian, Leanne Fesenmeyer, Mike Lattner, Anna Huang, and James Duda, made 2024 memorable.
Somehow, even with 30 extra pounds, I continued to be active on a regular basis.
My kids really grew into their own becoming inspiring young adults.
Sixteen years after my fateful accident in Yosemite, I appreciate just being alive.
My mom courageously continued to embrace life without her partner of 61 years. I really miss my dad and I appreciate him more and more every day.
In terms of money, I somehow always have enough.
Appreciation
When you appreciate something, you raise its value. To do that, you have to be present. Often we weave analogies and characteristics of water in our newsletter and we become present to the miracle that it is. This Thanksgiving weekend, please become present to the miracle you are in your business and life. Drench yourself in gratitude and commit to reaching a new high water mark in all 13 aspects of your life. I appreciate you, dear reader.
Here's to you and your awesome future.
Until then, keep your feet on the board and keep riding your wave!
